WARHEADS
AND MISSLETOES
by
George Edward Tait |
|
Let arms respond when trumpets call
& hands steady the swaying deck
Let nerves steel away the stomach's addiction to
butterflies
So that knees won't buckle; so that backs won't bend.
Guts are the food of glory
& spines don't curve on frontlines
Where eyes on duty don't dream.
Feet must follow where heads walk
& bypass the bleeding heart. |
